What's the best for YOU? - where are you going to place your next bet? lets have a look at a few alternatives to the normal - 'On Course Bookmaker or The TAB.' If you are viewing this page then naturally you have access to a computer. Most likely you are placing your bets online too or even by telephone. For Alternative Betting Practices. LEGAL STUFF: If you live in NSW or WA (This could also apply throughout Australia and is worth your while to check) - It could be illegal to make a bet outside of your State and/or even the country - check it out first. In the Northern Territory, they do have different gambling laws - more on that and who's up there later. If it is not illegal where you reside or are physically present at the time of making the bet, then you should know about the alternative ways to make your bets. The world of gambling has changed, and changed to the advantage of the punter. No longer are you restricted to placing bets with 'bookmakers' and/or having to place a bet with the TAB of Australia. You DO have a choice. The Betting Exchanges of the UK, cover many of the Australia Races. You are not betting with a 'bookmaker' The Betting Exchanges are NOT Bookmakers. You are betting with another punter who has opposing views to yourself about the 'outcome' of a Horse Race or indeed many events. These Betting Exchanges are not limited to the UK, they are now all over the USA but Britain, so far have the best. One British (London) based company has a weekly turnover of more than $100Million AUD - That's weekly - As you can readily see from this, that there are more than enough players to match your bets. A point worth remembering is, some of the less established Betting Exchanges' don't have sufficient clients, so the action can be slow or even non existent. The odds are very favorable, on an average 20% better than anywhere else. For example, lets say you think that the favorite in Race 2 at Moonee Valley is a horse that no other horse can beat, you can place that bet with the Betting Exchange. Someone with the view that THIS HORSE (The favorite) WILL not win will take your bet. This is only what a normal bookmaker would do anyway, you say the horse will win, and he offers you odds that it won't. It's pretty simple stuff really and if you do not like the odds on offer, you can offer your own odds. Still, it's worth mentioning here that if you offer your own odds, remember you must be competitive or no one will take your bet. From the pull down menu at the top of this page there is detailed information on the Betting Exchanges. Where and who they are, The Rules and Regulations - opening and account with them, how to deposit funds with them etc. etc. Everything is detailed there.
